Meet the Staff

Ruth Gravelle: has worked with adults who experience learning disabilities or difficulties for many years. Her dyslexia was diagnosed at the age of twenty-seven and she graduated with a BA (Hons) Psychosocial Studies in 1996. Ruth gained the OCR Diploma for Specific Learning Difficulties (dyslexia), in 2002. Her pictorial book about dyslexia ‘Inside-out’ was published in 2004 and has created many pictures showing how dyslexia can be. Ruth has co-ordinated support and worked as a dyslexia adviser/tutor at Writtle College for five years. She continues to support students at Chelmsford College and Anglia Ruskin University. Ruth would like to become a pop star!

Sue Faulks: has worked with students who have learning difficulties or differences including dyslexia and dyspraxia for over 7 years; she is an experienced tutor of teenagers and adults in both further and higher education. She has the Post Graduate Certificate in Adult Diagnosis and Dyslexia Support (ADDS).  It was the recognition of her son’s dyslexia that inspired Sue to work with children who experience problems with education and self esteem and to complete the HE Certificate in Counselling Children & Adolescents at Anglia Ruskin University. Sue likes to use her sense of humour when teaching and although is not in the slightest bit dyslexic, wonders if she might be lucky enough to develop it!

Gilly Lutton: has worked for many years as an adult literacy and numeracy tutor and gained her Post Graduate Certificate in the assessment and support of adults with dyslexia in1999. She has an Honours degree in Psychology, an MSc in Heath Psychology and an HE Certificate in Public Health. Gilly co-ordinated support at Writtle College and worked as a dyslexia advisor/tutor at East Essex   Adult Community College as well as Chelmsford College. Gilly has a contrasting role as an advisor and campaigner with the Citizens Advice Bureau. She has grade 5 on the piano but cannot play Chopsticks!

Kevin Adair: has a Post Graduate Certificate in Asperger Syndrome, and is an experienced tutor of both teenagers and adults at all stages of education. He has worked as a tutor at the Adult Community College in Chelmsford and continues to support students in a wide range of subjects, with mathematics being his specialist area; he likes finding new ways to help others to understand and succeed. Kevin enjoys music and football.
